Mideupi
Equatorial Ducks
Mideupi are duck-like mammiles that live in the equatorial regions
of Mutania . They have plump bodies, short legs, webbed feet, and a
bill like other waterfowl, but they also have soft fur on their
bodies and, unlike most creatures on Mutania, only have one eye.
Their bean on the bill is also prominent and gets larger as mideupi
babies grow, and their propensity for doing battle with it is well
documented.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Mideupi have two wings, two webbed feet, a singular eye, and a
wide bill with a protusion on the upper portion called a bean.
Their feathers range in color from sandy tan to sky blue
depending on the species and season.
They have two coats of feathers all over their body unlike other
winged mammiles like rarites, but they also have short fur on
their bellies and legs. The first coat is a soft one full of
down that helps insulate the animal and keep them warm, and the
second coat consists of contour feathers that protect them from
their environment and help them swim and fly.
Ecology and Habitats
Mideupi live in marshes and wetland areas all over the world.
The wetlands are home to many aquatic plant, invertebrate, and
insect species that the mideupi like to eat, resulting in a
varied diet.
Behavior
Mideupi are skittish mammiles that tend to avoid other
creatures. They are often preyed upon by larger predators, and
they live in groups that are quick to flee from any perceived
threat.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
With only one large eye that sits in the center of their
forehead, they often move their heads back and forth in order to
keep an eye out for predators.
