Fish Spiritualism

Iwati Fish Animism

The capital of Iwatik in Ghawle is next to the Gìzluh River, which is a major source of transportation and food. Many fish live in the river as it winds its way down south to the ocean, and Iwati people believe that there are souls within fish that are akin to the entities inside a body family.

Schools of fish are often leaderless organizations that somehow still move together as one. This observation mirrors that of how Iwatian people treat the body family.

Mythology & Lore

To believers in the Infinite Eyes of Zhok, Lizh's tears form the waters that become the ocean. Originally, there were large fish that acted alone and without body families inside them, but Lizh's shuddering and hiccuping caused vibrations that tore the fish apart into smaller fish that maintain the allegiance to the same vessel they once shared.

Divine Origins

Fish have always played an important role in Iwatian culture as a primary source of food and as a means of transportation. Even the earliest writings noted the behavior of schools of fish and likened them to the body family.

Worship

Active worship of fish spiritualism mostly revolves the preparation and eating of fish. Fish that school together are avoided because of their perceived souls, and fish that act alone are considered more acceptable fare. Preparation involves severing the head from the fish as soon as possible so as to prevent extraneous pain to the creature.
