The Ush has dominion over the salt snails in Lake Raro. The quantity and quality of the unyozeos harvests each year are dependent on favor of the Ush.
Unyozeos, or salt snails, are an important component of Raron culture. The Ush, or God, of the Unyozeo is a giant salt snail that was worshipped in the Golden Age when the animals were plentiful. When the Dry Age began and the snails began to disappear as the sea dried up, people turned on the Ush and desecrated the image of it in local temples, replacing it with depictions of the god of water, Aÿ, in an effort to bring the water back.
